At Hermance Hollow, we are blessed with a landscape that feels like a private sanctuary for wild foraging. Our wooded hollows are nourished by natural springs, ponds, and creeks, creating a thriving habitat for diverse plants, fungi, and wildlife. Towering Hemlocks, Pines, Oaks, Elms, Poplars, Birch, and Applewood trees shelter the land and provide the foundation for a rich variety of foraged treasures — from soothing Jewelweed to unique mushrooms like Bear’s Tooth Lion’s Mane.
For the past seven years, we have been ethically and lovingly hand-foraging this property, learning to work in harmony with the land while creating organic, natural products that support a relaxed, healthy lifestyle. Our philosophy is rooted in respect and reciprocity: taking only what we need, practicing sustainable harvesting, and continually learning from the wisdom of nature.
Foraging is more than gathering food — it’s about connection, mindfulness, and appreciation for the gifts of the earth. Research shows that spending time in nature and identifying wild plants can improve well-being, reduce stress, and deepen our awareness of local ecosystems.
And of course, we love mushrooms! 🍄 Our Wild Foraging Photo Blog is a space to share the beauty of the mushrooms and plants we encounter, along with limited notes on medicinal and edible uses, foraging tips, and the occasional recipe. Through photography and storytelling, we invite you to explore the seasonal bounty of our land and celebrate the wonder of wild foraging.
